Paradoxes....

This statement is a LIE.

These are 5 simple words that a 2nd standard student can read it but can anyone really understand and explain the whole sentence ? The answer is NO, because the sentence is Self- Contradictory. If the statement is true, then it's a lie, which means it is not true. But if it's not true, then it's a lie, which makes it true. Yikes!

What are Paradoxes?

A paradox is a statement that contradicts itself, or that must be both true and untrue at the same point of time. Paradoxes are quirks in logic that demonstrate how our thinking sometimes goes haywire, even when we use perfectly logical reasoning to get there.

But a key part of the paradox is that they at least sound reasonable. They are not obvious non-sense, and it's only upon consideration that we realize that they are self-defeating logic.

Logical Paradoxes have been used for centuries to demonstrate the fallibility of human logic, although logic is a valuable tool, it sometimes breaks down and as a result, people feel strange when they are unable to explain something so simple. Philosophers and mystics often use paradoxes to prove that human beings have to approach their world using intuition as well as logic.

"If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done? - George Carlin

There are a lot of paradoxes that are still unresolved and it is possible that it may never get resolved

1) The Bootstrap Paradox

Imagine one day you receive a mysterious package, there is no note on who sent the package. Confused but curious you open the package to find a book named 'How to build a time machine' . You followed that book and it took you 10 years to actually build the a working time machine. In all this time you never found out where this book came from and why it was sent to you, but then it suddenly hit you, you grabbed the book, jump into your time machine , travel back 10 years leaving the book in the exact same place for your younger self to discover.

Then the big question arises? Where did the book originally come from?

You can only build a time machine if you discover the book but you can only discover the book only if you have made a time.

2) The Grandfather Paradox

Time, as we all know moves in the forward direction, but if you could move backward in time, a famous paradox arises known as The grandfather paradox. Suppose you took your time machine, went back in time and killed your grandfather when he was a child. So it means that your father or mother was never born, so you wouldn't have been born, so you wouldn't have ever existed to go back and time and kill your grandfather in the first place.

Trying to solve the paradox from a multiverse perspective is just another way to avoid the paradox but if what you do when you go back in time actually influences your own past and the effects of your time travel do loop back to the present, future and past of your own timeline.

Paradoxes are the perfect example of 'Not every question has an answer' and it is not even necessary to find one. There are an infinite number of unresolved mysteries in the world, trying to solve something which is unsolvable is just a waste of time. Accept the truth and move on....
