Ever wondered why your favourite song starts playing at the back of your mind while you're trying to think of something else or when you are trying to recall what happened last saturday, you were unable to do it?

The simple answer is that you don't have control over your thoughts and mind.

 The mind is the most powerful tool one can have and if used properly it can change your whole life. Your mind, more specifically, your thoughts influence the way you live , it affects your perception and therefore interpretation of reality. The mind deals with  all types of positive and negative thoughts from internal as well as external sources but it is a challenge to filter out all the negative thoughts and embrace the positive ones. Those who are in complete control of their thoughts writes their own destiny.

More than a thousand thoughts come to our mind everyday but you have got to choose either be the lazy one and criticize each and everything that comes your way and end up nowhere or you can easily reprogram your mind and take control over your thoughts and be the master of your mind. The latter one will surely help you attain a greater level when it comes to your peace of mind.



A few changes in your lifestyle can help you get control over your thoughts and mind :

1. Meditation

The most easy yet the most powerful tool to take control over your thoughts, practiced by saints and monks all over the world, is meditation. A clear and stress free mind would enhance your thinking ability and removes unwanted negativity. A 15-20 minute sessions per day would be good to go. There are a lot of apps and meditation tutorials which you would find online.

2. Encourage positive environment around you

Your environment greatly influences how you think, how you behave and how you react. Try to be kind and help people around you. When you feel positive inside , you think positive and act accordingly. Choose your company wisely because it will foreshadow what you will be like in future.
"If you hang out with 5 idiots, you will be the 6th one and if you hang around with 5 millionaires, you will be the 6th one".

3. Deep Breathing

If you want to immediately divert your mind from all the negative thoughts and master your mind for positive thoughts, the best control is deep breathing. The moment things are getting out of control, pause for a minute and take 10-15 deep breaths without thinking anything. After that, your mind will be clear and ready to restructure your thoughts. The whole process stops you from thinking unwanted things.

4. Visualize

Visualizing is a great way to focus your thoughts towards your ultimate goal. When you have a clear image of your goal, negative thoughts would not wander around anymore. A strong visualization would prepare your mind to think about plans to meet those achievements. Just believe in yourself and this would help you boost your confidence in life and you will act accordingly .


You should take out time from your busy schedule and take care of your mental health as well as taking breaks is required once in a while to clear your mind from unwanted thoughts. Eat healthy, follow a balanced diet, get hydrated and get enough sleep to keep you going.The key to a "healthy life" is to have a "healthy mind".
